Seasonal Survival Tips.

We all know the holidays are a time when our focus on health gets a bit shaky. My name is Kimberly Zimmerman from The Juicy Life and I am a Certified Health Coach. I would like to share a few tips to get you thought this holiday season feeling a bit more grounded.

1) Have a healthy bite before you hit the Party: Usually the food chosen for a holiday party are not high in nutritional value and tend to be choked full of Sugars, fats, and preservatives. Having a tiny healthy meal before you go get tempted at the holiday buffet will help in 2 ways.

  • You get more nutrition because you get to create a balanced foundation.

  • You are not starving when you get to the holiday goodies and usually can make better decisions on what to put in your body.

2) Its ok to say no (social events, family gatherings, overspending) It’s not always easy to say “No” The social pressure, Family pressure and the FOMO can be intense. I encourage you to listen to your boundaries this holiday season, so you don’t get burned out. It’s ok to skip the party, show up late or duck out early. It cool to say “no’ to the extra helping of dessert or glass of wine. It ok to say “no” to seemingly obligatory holiday gatherings. There is a quote by Dr. Seuss that may help.

  • Those that mind don’t matter.

  • Those that matter don’t mind.

3) Make your own holiday traditions:

  • Go/do things that make you feel happy. Last year was my first holiday since my father died. The thought of a traditional Christmas didn’t seem right for me given the loss of him. Instead, my partner and I took a trip to Napa solo. It was an amazing memory building experience.

4) Hot water with Lemon each morning: Each night our body goes thought a deep cleaning process. The left-over gunk from the deep cleaning is still in our system when we wake up. The Hot water with lemon helps to break up the gunk and cleanse it out of our bodies.

5) Don’t overspend on gift: no one wants to spend the entire year paying off Christmas bills. It creates unnecessary stress for everyone. Perhaps instead of expensive gist you and your family create a new memory by having a fun experience or perhaps you and your family make homemade gifts. These fun experiences can build bonds and memories that could last a lifetime.

That’s all the tip I have for you today. This is Kimberly Zimmerman from the Juicy Life hoping these tips help you to live your Juicest life possible.
