WHY add weights to yoga?

Just like blocks, straps, bolsters, and blankets, weights are a great prop to deepen your yoga practice! In fact, BKS Iyengar himself used barbells in his practice! Studies have shown that adding weights to your exercise routine can strengthen muscle tissue, improve bone density, and increase joint health. Besides the countless physical benefits, adding weights can challenge your mental toughness and resilience. It is a full-body, transformational practice.

  • How to best serve your students.


Having laid the necessary groundwork to arm you with all the essential knowledge needed to be an effective teacher, we will take five Yoga + Weights classes together. This will allow you to feel the practice in your own body and deepen your understanding through experiential exploration.


It is our hope that you will leave this training feeling fully empowered to apply what you’ve learned and begin teaching right away. To further facilitate that, you will learn three pre-made Yoga + Weights sequences that you can take with you to help jump start your teaching!

No, you do not need teaching experience to take this training! However, if you are a certified yoga teacher you may skip September 6th-8th, and pay a reduced price of $725 instead of $1000!

Tricia has been teaching yoga in the greater Santa Barbara area since 2015. She completed her 200 hour Teacher Training in 2014, and subsequently studied Yin Yoga, Yoga Sculpt, and yoga anatomy from an array of teachers. She began leading Teacher Trainings in 2016 through CorePower Yoga, and has witnessed the powerful effects of studying yoga firsthand.

When she's not on her yoga mat, Tricia can be found exploring the Santa Barbara mountains, sipping on an americano, or reading. She is grateful and excited for the opportunity to pass along the gifts that a regular yoga practice has given her.
